Alone again in car town
Things are still the same
Neon skies and muffled cries
and various losing games
Tried to be an artist
My friends were very kind
Applied to be a husband
told to wait in line
But Saturday night
is all right.
Go get high
and party down.
Or read a book
and walk around.
And it's not unknown
to write a song
in car town
on a Saturday night.
Sure the times are changin'
it's time for World War Three.
Six-six got his raygun
pointed right at me.
Peace has been pre-empted,
inquisition's in the wind
A whiz kid gives up study
cuz a budget has been trimmed.
But Saturday night
is all right.
Go get high
and party down.
Or read a book
and walk around.
And it's not unknown
to write a song
in car town on a Saturday night.
Dinner in a paper bag,
burger, fries, and shake.
I drink enough black coffee
that I never gain no weight.
I used to dream a lot about
how it felt to fly.
Now I'm getting older
and I dream of how I'll die.
